New Photo Projects This Summer.

// March 7th, 2010 // Comments // Uncategorized

Winter sucks… I always too cold to do any solid photo shooting. But since the weather is finally getting nice it time to start some photo projects.

1) redesign my photo blog and move it to a different direction. More photos and some method instructions. Hopefully to draw more viewers. Pus the best way to learn something is to try to teach it to someone else.

2) I going to try and self publish a photo book or 2 and try get it a ISBN number and listed on Amazon and Barnes and Nobel. Not to sell it to make money but to see if i can actually pull it off on my own with out a publishing company doing it for me.

3) I have some public art type projects in the works. Like my Disposable Memory Project participation. I’ll have more in that later.

4) work on trying to get some good self portraits. I need more photos of myself.

I have a few more things in the works but ill update them as I start on them.

On Michael Jackson

// June 26th, 2009 // Comments // Uncategorized

Yesterday, Michael Jackson died at the age of 50.

The First Record I ever owned was Michael Jackson’s Thriller given to me by my dad when we lived in the Married Student housing at Ohio University in Athens, OH. Dad was there getting one of his many graduate degrees. I remember dad bringing it home and being excited to play it on my hand me down record player.That was 1982 and I was 7 years old.

I don’t care what you think of Micheal Jackson as a person, his impact, inovation, orginally and absolutly amazing musical and dancing talent had impacted and will impact artists forever. I myself am glad that I was alive to experience it  in its entirety.

May his music live on forever:

Larry Page's University of Michigan Commencement Address

// May 3rd, 2009 // Comments // Uncategorized

Larry Page is the founder of google and this is his address at the Univeersity of Michigan;s Commencement.

You know what it’s like to wake up in the middle of the night with a vivid dream? And you know how, if you don’t have a pencil and pad by the bed to write it down, it will be completely gone the next morning?

Well, I had one of those dreams when I was 23. When I suddenly woke up, I was thinking: what if we could download the whole web, and just keep the links and… I grabbed a pen and started writing! Sometimes it is important to wake up and stop dreaming. I spent the middle of that night scribbling out the details and convincing myself it would work. Soon after, I told my advisor, Terry Winograd, it would take a couple of weeks to download the web — he nodded knowingly, fully aware it would take much longer but wise enough to not tell me. The optimism of youth is often underrated! Amazingly, I had no thought of building a search engine. The idea wasn’t even on the radar. But, much later we happened upon a better way of ranking webpages to make a really great search engine, and Google was born. When a really great dream shows up, grab it!

What i have been up to

// April 28th, 2009 // Comments // Uncategorized

Photographically:

Well I scrapped my project 365 because i was just unable to give quality photos everyday due to my schedule. I could have just taken random .. run of the mill snap shots but i dont think that does me any good. But i do have a few projects coming up:

I made a pinhole camera.

I need to mess with it some in order to get clear shots. But it i hoping it will be a great learning experience..

I purchased a new Borwnie Reflex with a working shutter. The other one I have has a broken shutter. I took a roll of 127 film black and white fille through it and will psot it once i get the scans back next week.

I also purchased a Canon Elan & film camera to take photos with. I feel that if i can master the use if film my digital work will only get better. Stay tuned for photos as i take them

I am also advertising my photo business alot more and hopefully will bet getting a whole lot more photo jobs.

Personally:

I was accepted in to graduate school at MTSU again. I was last year alos but due to personal reason i did not attend. This semester I will.

I am cleaning my apartment, selling or giving away things i don’t need, and attempting to simplifiy my life as much as I can. I relaized i have too much stuff that I dont use and/or don’t need. I talk more about this later.

Blogally:

I plan on writing here more and more. I should try talking more about me. I do have a bunch if old junior high and high school classmates that freinded me on Facebook. I should up date the last 10 years of my life.

i plan on doing some video stuff soon. Right now i am putting stuff on on Vimeo and 12 Seconds.tv

Well off we go……

Out of the loop..

A list of stupid Republican Arguments Against Gay Marriage

// April 17th, 2009 // Comments // Uncategorized

From officeofstrategicinfluence.com:

  1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
  2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
  3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
  4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
  5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
  6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
  7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
  8. Being gay is disgusting. Which is why lesbian porn isn’t a 3.5 billion dollar a year industry.
  9. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
  10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
  11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Nuff Said….

Outside During the Tornado Warnings

Outside During the Tornado Warnings from Richard Call on Vimeo.

Me out trying to get bad weather footage.

If you listen closely you can hear the siren in the background.

We didn’t get much but some moderate rain and a bunch of sirens.

This was taken with my cell phone.
