It is hard to talk about the blues without first mentioning the early Influences. Son House Influenced the likes of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and Most Recently the White Stripes.
His playing style is amazing and at time very haunting as seen here in Death Letter:
Notice how he almost slaps the Dobro he playing. That sound in combination with the slide completely add to mood of the song.

Son House aspired to be a preacher and began preaching at the age of 15.
