Archive for April, 2008

Yesterday (april 20, 2008) was the Nashville’s Earth Day festival featuring Jen Foster, Jypsi and Raul Malo. The turn our seemed to be less than normal due to the chillyness and rainy weather. But all in all it was a good time. I think i may sign up for a CSA this year.

Here is a slide show of the Pictures off my Flickr Site:

Musical Stylings:

My favorite song of Jen Fosters is Taking Bob Dylan which is located on her MySpace Page.

Jypsi was an very good sounding country band and very nice to look at. Song is Love is a Drug.

Raul Malo used to be the lead singer of the Mavericks. His set was awesome. Song is It only Hurts Me When I cry

Songs are not hosted by me and are subject to being unavailable at anytime.

I saw a feature on Sophie Thouvenin on stainlesssteeldropings.com. Her work is stunningly beautiful, inspiring and amazingly beautiful.

Here are a few of my favorites form her website www.prismes.com with comment (all images copyright of Sophie Thouvenin) :

Notice the figure in the reflection in the eye

I love the amazing detail in this one

I love the subjects facial expression and how the over feel is the photograph is told in her looking up . Almost as looking for something.

I love how all but the two drops are in focus and the detail in the reflection.

I like how the subject seems to looking over her shoulder and dissolving into the background yet her hand seem to me touching that which hasen’t started to dissolve.

Please see more beautiful and amazing images at www.prismes.com

A few years ago I saw an exhibit at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts called Twilight by Gregory Crewdson.

What strikes me with these it the way he is able to portray the eeriness that comes when light fades to darkness. The seemingly normal settings have something abnormal happening.

I hope to someday be able to do pull something like this with my photography.

A few of my favorites are below:
